This year, we have many new and exciting things going on with our AAPG Chapter along with many of the other activities that have helped make our chapter one of the strongest in all of AAPG worldwide. These events include, but are not limited to, technical short courses, lunch-n-learns, field trips, movie nights, and other social activities. We provide for many different ways to get involved with the department of geology and geophysics as well as many of the oil and gas companies from both Houston and Oklahoma City. We are also excited to launch a new event called the "AAPG Talk Exchange" which will be a student speaker series throughout the year where our students present in an informal setting to their peers as a form of information transfer within our organization.
Our student chapter is very diverse in terms of its membership. Last year, we had over 80 members with a very good mix of geologists, geophysicists and petroleum engineers from both undergraduate and graduate programs. Our main goals are to promote fellowship within the department as well as giving our members various skill sets that they can transfer over to the petroleum industry.
Lastly, membership is sponsored by Chevron so it is FREE!!! Therefore, we really hope that you not only join our chapter but are also very active with participation in the many different events that we have planned for you. Feel free to contact us if you have ANY questions!
Warm Regards,
Jonathan Funk
