Scholarship Program Requirements

To receive scholarship support from the School of Geology & Geophysics, you must:

Formally declare your major in Geology or Geophysics (a form is available in the College of Earth and Energy’s Office, 510 Sarkeys Energy Center).

Enroll in at least one regular, letter-graded Geology or Geophysics class in each semester.

Complete GEOL 1114 and GEOL 1124 by the end of your Freshman year.

Maintain full time student status of at least 15 credit hours per semester. The School of Geology and Geophysics must approve any departure from the appropriate curriculum sheet.

Enroll and participate in the School’s colloquium course, GEOL 4970 001 (l credit ihour), each semester.

Provide written notification of your decision to accept scholarship support.

Write a letter of acknowledgment to the corporate or individual donors for your scholarship, via the Director, School of Geology and Geophysics.

Attend each semester’s Alumni Advisory Council luncheon and related functions, and participate as much as possible in the School’s extracurricular activities.

To continue scholarship support each semester, you must meet the following requirements in addition to those above:

Maintain at least a cumulative 3.00 grade point average each semester at OU (summer courses, new or retakes, and transfer courses will not be considered in the assessment of scholarship renewal).

Maintain satisfactory progress toward your degree as determined by the Undergraduate Studies Committee of the School.
